Our 9-D Process
The modern web design process is where art, technology, and psychology meet and it evolves over time as new trends emerge. It is a mix of technical acumen, cognizance of HCD (Human-Centered Design), and an eye for art.
If this process is executed well, your visitor’s attention and conversion to a customer will increase promptly.
01.
Discover
- Who is the target audience?
- What should they expect to see when they arrive at our website?
- What is the primary purpose of the website?
- What message needs to be conveyed?
- What are the competitors doing, if there are any, and how should we differentiate?
02.
Define
After identifying and discovering your goals, we will define the scope. This is necessary to open the dialogue on what’s important to the project.
This will also build us a timeline, see example below.
03.
Design
The most enjoyable part of a designer’s work is creating something new and begins to brainstorm, building sketches, mood boards, wireframes, etc. Once the blueprint for the site has been defined through the creation of the sitemap and wireframes, the next step is to create a visual style. The overall visual style will most likely be determined by the visual brand of the organization
04.
Develop
Developers are also engaged at this time. The developer needs to be sure they can build what the designer is suggesting. This stage may be fairly quick, or may involve multiple conversations between the designer, the developer, and the client. As the process evolves, wireframes and other designs will go from Low to Mid to High Fidelity.
05.
Code Implementation
With designs approved, the coding begins. The developer recreates the wireframes as conceived in step 4. It’s time to flesh out the design of the pages, develop new content and refine old content, create videos, slideshows, podcasts and other media that will appear on the site as well as start to build out the HTML and CSS of the site.
Motion and styling become the nitty-gritty, with the designer adding UI changes and critiques on functionality.
06.
Prototype Testing
Now it’s time to test the waters. Prototypes are used to conduct user research. Some questions to consider are:
- What do people like or dislike about this design?
- What buttons are being pressed first?
- Where does the attention of the user linger?
- How does the user handle certain tasks, such as finding FAQs or making a purchase?
- Does any part of the design or workflow confuse the user?
07.
Visual Modification
Before the site is launched, it will be placed on a production server where only internal audiences and anyone who you share the link with can view it. Testing of the site is critical as there will inevitably be issues that need to be addressed before the site goes live. There is nothing that erodes a brand more than a site that doesn’t function properly or that has misspellings or broken design elements.
08.
Deploy
The big day! It’s finally time to launch the new website!
We have tested the site, had it reviewed and approved by the project stakeholders, and we are ready to launch. But once the site is launched, the project isn’t over — we are prepared to address feedback from your users adapting to the new site.
09.
Post-Launch/Consultation Continuation
What used to be time-consuming we now do with the speed of thought. We won’t stop until you are satisfied. We are ready to make some immediate changes to the site, such as fixing broken links, editing copy and making adjustments. The Web is a fluid medium that changes on a daily, if not hourly basis — change is inevitable.

It’s our attention to the small stuff, scheduling of timelines and keen project management that makes us stand out from the rest. We are creative, while keeping a close eye on the calendar and your budget.
You want results. We have found that the best way to get them is with up front research – of your company, competitors, target market and customer psychographics. Only after we fully understand you and your customers, do we recommend a plan of attack.
